Between the two mapping modes, excluding Macro Mapping, the Key Mapping mode is less frequently used. However, it can be quite useful for making music or playing live, as you can map elements in Live that aren’t mapped to Push or other MIDI controllers.
Nowadays, there are more pitfalls because Ableton has added quite a few one-letter or number shortcuts over the last several Live versions. It is important to be cautious when key mapping to avoid blocking vital shortcuts, which can slow down your workflow, or the functionality of using the computer MIDI keyboard.

Just a heads up: I think you accidentally embedded the wrong video on this article. Your videos are always gems of information and workflow enhancements. I thoroughly enjoy these and watch them religiously. Even though I consider myself an Ableton ninja – in all modesty no less – there’s still a wealth of knowledge to be taken away.
Also your sound packs are really good, outstanding quality and ease-of-use. I’d love to contribute more financially, but I’m on the verge of poverty myself… But I, and I’m sure many others, am really appreciating all the work you put in, and I hope to give something back eventually in the future.
