Resampling in Ableton Live – Use Cases for Inspiration

After I’d published my article about the different resampling methods in Ableton Live, I was asked over and over if I could share some examples of how I use resampling creatively in my own music. It took me quite some time, but I finally got around to making a video to fulfil the request.

In the screencast I show you how you can achieve the reverse reverb effect, used by the likes of Led Zeppelin and The Beatles, but also known from horror movies because of the ghostly and creepy feel it creates. On top of that I play you some other bits and pieces from so far unreleased songs of mine that were all shaped through resampling and hopefully will give you some inspiration into what this sound design technique can be used for. I use it a lot since it allows me to treat waveforms just like play dough.

Deutsche Version:

One of the songs I play bits and bops of is already out, in case you’d like to have a listen, but not in its original version, but a remix that I made.

As always, if you have questions or suggestions, please let me know in the comments below. You’re also welcome to share what you use resampling for in your productions, so that others can get even more creative sparks.
