AutoDial_XY, a Max for Live MIDI effect, a re-edition of “directautomatiz” from dric, allows for temporary automation in an XY pad without envelopes in Live. You can record automation for a length of between 1 and 16 bars.
Map any two parameters in Live by selecting the respective parameters individually, then clicking the Map button in AutoDial_XY. Push the record button (red), define the length, move the dial till the recording is done and the the automation is read automatically. The automation can be read forwards, backwards or bi-directionally.

Sad that you cant sync and modify recorded automations – like in Robs synths.Damn, such a shame. Same like that Ableton (same like other daws) can make proper multi-midi editor.
