In this video in the series With A Little Help From Max for Live, I’m not going to showcase a new device by an independent developer. This time we’re going to have a look at Ableton’s own Shaper, which is part of the Core Library for Live 11 Standard and Suite users. And instead of using it how it’s originally intended, we’re going to use it to give us the possibility to macro map any parameter in the whole Live Set within a rack, or actually even up to 8 parameters all to one macro.
This trick with Shaper can be used in Instrument Racks, Drum Racks, and Audio Effect Racks. If you’d like to achieve the same in a MIDI Effect Rack, simply use the Shaper MIDI device instead. If you only have the Intro version of Live 11, you can employ the LFO to get the same result. Just make sure to set the Rate to 0 Hz, then follow along with the tutorial.
Whether you’re looking to streamline your live performance setup or simply prefer recording your music production creation from the Session View into the Arrangement View, this little trick will likely come in handy to know.

Can you suggest a way to create a separate dedicated midi key-shift track to go alongside a midi track (for example a NI instrument that uses key-shifts) so that keyshifts don’t have to be embedded within the main track.
Do you mean keyswitches in Kontakt etc.? Otherwise I don’t know what you mean, so please elaborate.
