Genstep16 is a very interesting kind of step sequencer. It has the ability to generate new arpeggio/melody patterns over time. Also adding variations in velocity and duration make the patterns seem very organic and human. Very inspiring!
Specify a scale, press the “generate random sequence every 8th bar” and Genstep16 will automatically generate a random pattern. You can adjust the velocity and duration for each note or set it to randomly generate variety for both with a specified interval.
You can choose between random, staccato, legato or you can draw in the velocity and duration of each note.
This way for heaps more Max for Live devices & tips.

Hey, I’m trying to download this right now, but it seems to no longer be available at the link provided. Is there anywhere else I can find this?
The updated version is available at: http://www.maxforlive.com/library/device/3959/genstep16-a-generative-step-sequencer. Btw, all it took was to put the device name into the search form of maxforlive.com, considering that I’m not the maker of this device and can’t be expected to make sure the thousands of external links are all up to date. I’m sure, Google would have been just as helpful.
