Some effects can add latency to the track they’re located on, like compressors or limiters. In this video in the Ableton Live Quick Tips tutorial series I’ll show you how you can check the amount of latency an effect adds to the track, whether it’s a Live device, a Max for Live effect or a plug-in.

Does Ableton compensate for this latency? Including automation?
Most of the time it does. There are some exceptions. See: https://help.ableton.com/hc/en-us/articles/209072409-Delay-Compensation-FAQ
