Ableton Live Number Shortcuts – Adjust Grid & Global Quantisation on the Fly

The Ableton Live number shortcuts, as I like to call them, are simply Cmd (Mac) or Ctrl (Win) and one of the number pads pressed. 1 to 5 help you to quickly adjust the grid in Arrangement View or Clip View, 6 to 0 make it possible to change the global quantisation setting on the fly (even though I’m not that happy with what settings have shortcuts vs. those that don’t). Check out the videos below to see what each does in action. Incorporating them into your workflow will save you time in the long run and make the process of working smoother.

  1. It says I can only view this on Instagram, but there’s nothing to click on the first section, and the link on the second section leads to a video that doesn’t run. If this requires an Instagram account, I don’t have one and I don’t want one.

    1. What you see depends on the browser you’re using. You don’t need an Instagram account, and the video does run. It shows how the grid is changed, which is a subtle difference.
