Max for Cats MIDI Effects Bundle 1

The "Max for Cats MIDI Effects Bundle 1" contains the "Drum Articulate", "Chord Memorizer" and "ConChord", 4 Max for Live MIDI effects in total, created by Max for Cats.

Drum Articulate by Max for Cats

Advanced drum programming with ease and in no time.

Drum Articulate is a MIDI effect that allows you to programme sophisticated drums and rhythms for any music style with ease. It can be placed on individual pads of an Ableton Live Drum Rack, used globally on a whole kit or even be employed for synth programming and effects. Effortlessly create drum rolls, flams, random triggers and more.

Chain them for more interaction.

Drum Articulate also does wonders to any other MIDI instrument or can be combined with other MIDI effects for even more fireworks. Seriously awesome to use in the studio and especially on stage!

A single MIDI effect with six different modes:

Flam:

  • 4 triggers with a freely adjustable delay time between triggers
  • individual velocity sliders

Drum Articulate - Flam & Random modes

Random:

  • random triggers as long as a note is held down
  • define the trigger speed
  • randomise the velocity within a specified range

Repeat:

  • drum rolls as long as a note is held down
  • adjustable speed
  • automatic quantisation to Live's master tempo through ‘Quantized’ switch (only works with Live's transport running)
  • choice of triplet or punctuated note repeats

Drum Articulate - Repeat & Humanise modes

Humanize:

  • pseudo-random shifting of incoming notes in time to create a human feel

Time Designer:

  • allows for complex delay patterns for incoming notes
  • 15 freely adjustable delay lines
  • each with individual velocity value
  • global delay time setting
  • choice to pass or block original note

Drum Articulate - Time Designer & NoteRow modes

NoteRow:

  • trigger note definable
  • up to 16 different MIDI notes definable to step through with each trigger

Chord Memorizer by Max for Cats

One-Finger-Chord-Wonders

The pack includes two Max for Live MIDI effects by Max for Cats. Chord Memorizer and Chord Transposer. Enhance your playing skills in the studio and on stage.

Chord Memorizer

128 keys for as many chords.

Easily create, play and store MIDI chords for chord progressions and chord patterns. Each key can store any chord! Use it to play chords with the left hand while playing melodies with the right hand. Or to trigger difficult or 'impossible' chords.

Once Chord Memorizer is fed with your chords, you can save all settings as an individual preset. This way you can access as many stored chord progressions as you wish.

Play complex chord progressions with single keys.

chord_memorizer

Chord Memorizer features two keyboards. The upper keyboard shows the incoming MIDI notes. The lower keyboard displays the stored chords (= outgoing notes). Depending on the THRU switch settings, unmapped notes will be passed through or not.

Of course, you can also place Chord Memorizer into a MIDI Effect Rack. This way you can create key or velocity zones, chains and so on.

Chord Transposer

Chord Transposer is the perfect addition to Chord Memorizer.‬

It lets you record, re-trigger and transpose a chord with a single key press. This function is crucial to modern (dance) music, especially when used with an Arpeggiator. The origin of this function derives from some vintage synths. Such as the Korg Polysix, the Korg Mono/Poly, the Roland Alpha Juno series and a few others.

ConChord by Max for Cats

The pulse driven Chord Step Sequencer.

ConChord is a pulse-based Max for Live chord step sequencer. The MIDI effect offers 8 steps, which are triggered by pulses and each step can have a different stage with a variable pulse length from 0 to 7 pulses per step. You can of course adjust Time, Swing as well as the play direction. This allows for quite interesting musical results since it is very easy to introduce complexity within the simple pattern of an 8 step sequencer with a maximum of 56 pulses.

With the carefully chosen feature set, you are in full control of ConChord. The features from the pages of the MIDI effect can be mixed and matched, making very complex patterns possible.

One Finger Transposition

With MIDI Input enabled you can change the root note via MIDI, thus transposing the pattern supporting even greater variability and complexity. ConChord also comes with five banks of Push mappings, making jamming with it in the studio or on stage a breeze.

Create much more musical and intricate patterns on the spot

Besides the classic note/velocity/length parameters (Step page), each step can have a variable pulse count to allow rests, pauses and repetitions (Stage page). Additionally, each step can generate a chord, for which you can choose between 22 integrated chord types. Each chord can also be played back inverted and/or with variable strumming (Chord page).

Finally, the Extra page allows mapping the steps to any other parameter in Live (similar to e.g. the LFO from the Core Library in Live) and you can select a scale for the note melody of the Step page.

The Pages:

Step:

  • Adjust the note pitches, velocity, length and octave per step
  • Randomise & reset for each parameter group
  • Global settings for velocity & length

Stage:

  • Set the pulse count per step and its behaviour
  • Includes pauses, repetitions once or multiple times as well as hold

Chord:

  • Activate chord function per step
  • Set the chord type (22 available)
  • Define the inversion and strumming factor of the chord

Extra:

  • Scale drop down menu (global)
  • Map to any parameter in Live and define values for each per step

What you get:

  • 2 self-installing Live Packs with an integrated lesson in Live's Help section each
  • 1 zip file with 1 self-installing Live Pack with integrated course in Live's help section and instruction manuals in German and English as PDF
  • 4 Max for Live MIDI effects total & many presets

System Requirements:

  • Live 10 or up (Live 9 or higher for Drum Articulate & Chord Memorizer)
  • Max for Live
  • OS X or Windows
