Last week, a new cat has been added to the Max for Cats collection. BENGAL, a semi-modular FM synth, available on Ableton. As you may know, there are also great Max for Live devices to be had on Sonic Bloom.
Verbotron by Max for Cats, a great free Max for Live reverb, got overhauled. Version 1.1 now features Push mappings and a redesigned interface which features a handy visual representation of the reverb parameters. It uses the original Gigaverb algorithm by Juhana Sadeharju which is also known as "Gverb" in Audacity.
With the Live 9 Suite you get Max for Live and with it, the Convolution Reverb. I think it's a great addition, although personally I would love to see the Reverb improved to achieve better results when used on vocals etc. Every effect has its purpose, but it's important to know how it works and what it's good for.
Trick or treat? HauntedVerb by Max for Cats Bats creates ambiences from beyond. Either tweak it to your own claustrophic needs or use one of the presets. Perfect for Halloween, but also always handy when you could do with some eerie, haunting or downright scary sounds in your tracks. And most frighteningly you can download it for free.
Here's another great Max for Live audio effect by Amazing Noises a.k.a. Maurizio Giri, known for his books on programming with Max and more recently the much lauded Dark Synth. The 'Granular Mirror Maze' is a granular modulated feedback delay/reverberator and can create some really great effects and pad sounds.
Hurray! We've reached the landmark of 200 posts on Sonic Bloom with this one. And it comes packed with a little surprise for you - Verbotron made by Christian Kleine, exclusively here on Sonic Bloom. A great Max for Live addition to your collection of reverbs.
